本文回顾了晶体生长理论研究的发展历史, 对现有理论的局限性作了评述, 认为现有理论的局限性主要表现为: 对于环境相结构效应和生长条件变化的忽视; 用平衡态热力学和统计物理学解释非平衡态的晶体生长过程; 对于浓厚相和多元晶体生长体系缺乏理论模型. 并对今后的发展方向提出了看法.
