弯曲芯型向列相(BCN)液晶在一定的低频电压和温度下会产生挠曲电畴,出现明暗相间的周期结构。本文使用偏光显微镜(BX-51)和电荷耦合元件(CCD)探测了BCN中挠曲电畴的周期大小变化与电压及温度的关系,并使用光学衍射技术对该周期结构进行了验证。实验结果表明:温度达到95℃,并且外加电压达到25 V时,BCN 液晶的挠曲电畴条纹结构首次出现。在温度一定的条件下,畴的周期随外加电压的增大而逐渐减小;而电压一定的条件下,周期结构的对比度随温度的升高逐渐变得模糊,必须增大外加电压才能使模糊的周期结构重新变得清晰。本研究对探索 BCN 液晶在液晶光栅领域的应用与发展具有一定的指导意义。

Bent-core nematic (BCN)liquid crystal under a certain low frequency voltage and tempera-ture will produce flexodomain,a spatially periodic array of bright and dark stripes.Through polarizing microscope (BX-51)and charge coupled device (CCD),the change of periodic flexodomain under dif-ferent applied voltages and temperatures were explored.The periodic structure was verified by using the optical diffraction technology,too.The results show that flexodomain first appears when the applied voltage is 25 V and the temperature is 95 ℃,and the period of flexodomain decreases with the increase of applied voltage as the temperature is a certain value.In addition,when the voltage is a cer-tain value,the contrast of periodic structure will become blurry with the increase of temperature and the blurry stripes become clear again only when the applied voltage increased.This research has a cer-tain guiding significance on the application and development of BCN liquid crystal in liquid crystal grating.
