将5-氯-6,11-并四苯二醌与8-羟基喹啉经亲核取代制得光致变色5-(8-喹啉氧基)-6,11-并四苯二醌,其光致变色性与5-苯氧基-6,11-并四苯二醌类似. 在254 nm或365 nm紫外光照射下,它的苯、氯仿和二甲基亚砜溶液在约450 nm和480 nm处有特征吸收双峰,在400 nm左右有等吸光点. 它经紫外光照后生成的"ana"醌式可与氨水发生不可逆反应. 同时发现,显色体在最大波长处的吸收随溶剂极性增大而红移13 nm.
