研究了液晶显示中的二色性染料及其应用. 在TN模式中, 用蓝色染料来吸收黑态时背景光中泄漏的红黄光,特别在斜视角方向;而在亮态时,染料跟随液晶分子转动而不吸收,使得红黄光的对比度提高.3个液晶样品加了蓝色染料后,对比度分别由47.87,60.32,42.04提高到54.92,67.77,50.30;陡度分别由1.41,1.39,1.40变缓为1.56,1.55,1.58,有利于TN 显示模式中的灰度显示;视角得到了改善,对比度为10,20的曲线左右视角各提高了5 °.

Dichroic dyes and application in liquid crystal display was studied.The blue dyes absorb leaked red and yellow background-light especially in oblique direction at dark state, and the dyes don't absorb light when turning following LC molecules at white state, so the contrast of TN-LCD is improved because red and yellow light are main part in back-light, and human's eyes is more sensitive to them. As results, the contrasts of three samples are improved to 54.92,67.77 and 50.30 from 47.87, 60.32 and 42.04;the steepnesses are leaned over 1.56,1.55,1.58 from 1.41,1.39, 1.40 for increasing grey scale;the viewing angle is improved as the curve of contrast with 10 and 20 by 5° on the left and right.
