Iodinated X?ray contrast media ( ICM ) have been paid more and more attention due to their high frequency of detection and potential contributions to iodinated disinfection by?products in the aquatic environment. This paper presents an overview of occurrence and distribution, transformation, removal processes and potential ecological risk of ICM. At the end, we prospect for the future research challenges in the field.
