以富硼碳化硼粉体为原料,采用放电等离子烧结(SPS)制备致密碳化硼陶瓷体,研究了SPS工艺对碳化硼陶瓷结构和性能的影响.结果表明,SPS烧结工艺可以低温快速烧结得到致密度达到99.7%的碳化硼陶瓷体,烧结温度和烧结时间对碳化硼的致密度和晶粒尺寸都有影响.烧结过程中样品晶粒表面产生玻璃相,玻璃相的存在使碳化硼断裂机制由穿晶断裂过渡为沿晶断裂,有助于提高材料断裂强度和断裂韧性.SPS制备的致密碳化硅陶瓷材料具有良好的力学性能,其中致密度达到99.6%,抗弯强度达到550.1 MPa,硬度39.52 GPa.

Densified boron carbide ceramics were synthesized by a spark plasma sintering(SPS) process using boron-rich boron carbide powders as the raw material. The influence of SPS experimental parameters on the structure and mechanical properties of boron carbide ceramics was investigated. It showed that boron carbide having a densification of 99.7% was obtained by SPS at a relatively low temperature for a short dwell time. Sintering temperature and time affected the densification and the grain size of boron carbides. Amorphous phase formed on the grain surface during sintering, which would lead to a transition of the fracture type of boron carbides from transgranular to intergranular. As a result, amorphous phase helped an increase in fracture strength and fracture toughness. Boron carbide ceramics synthesized by SPS exhibited excellent mechanical properties, i.e., densification was 99.6%, bending strength was 550.1 MPa, and Vickers hardness was up to 39.52 GPa, respectively.
