The TiO2 photocatalyst samples doped with nickel were prepared by sol-gel method. The samples were analyzed by XRD,XPS,FT-IR,UV-Vis,PL,etc.The photocatalytic activity of the samples doped with different nickel content and sintered at different temperature were investigated by measuring the methyl blue(MB)degradation rate under the fluorescent lamp irradiation. The results show that Ni-TiO2 samples are a mixed phase of anatase and rutile and the threshold wavelength is red shift about 55nm.The nickel doping inhibits the growth of crystallite size and transformations of crystallite phase from anatase to rutile and the photocatalytic activity is improved. The activity of the sample prepared at 500℃,n(Ni)∶n(TiO2)=1∶100 is the best under fluorescent lamp and is obviously higher than that of Degussa P25.
