The poly(lactic acid)-wood fiber (WF-PLA) composites with 70 % WF were prepared by high super mixing-flat hot press. Water resistance, flexural strength and modulus, molecular weight and thermal properties of different WF-PLA composites were tested and compared. The results indicate that when PLA combined with WF, flexural modulus improves, but molecular weight and T_m of PLA decrease. PLA has a significant effect on the properties of WF-PLA composites. The molecular weight of PLA in WF-PLA composites decreases with molecular weight of PLA raw materials decreases. The water resistance, flexural strength and modulus of WF-PLA composites are better when prepared with higher molecular weight PLA. PLA molecular weight decreasing should be avoided when PLA is modified in WF-PLA composites.
