利用功率密度仅有0.25 W/cm2的超声波为辐射源对溶有聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯(PMMA)的MMA物料体系进行辐照引发了MMA的本体聚合。考察了超声波、促进剂、阻聚剂、反应气氛等因素对聚合反应的影响,利用凝胶色谱仪对产物分子量及分布进行了表征。结果表明,该反应为自由基引发聚合,大分子与单体之间的摩擦力是产生自由基的根本原因;超声波频率、辐照时间等对聚合速率有明显影响;产物具有较为规整的分子量分布且几乎不含引发剂残基,可应用于对材料纯度有特殊要求的领域。

Methyl methacrylate(MMA) was polymerized in bulk solutions using low intensity ultrasonic radiation of 0.25 W/cm2.The factors affecting the polymerization(i.e.ultrasonic,PMMA granular,inhibitor and reaction ambience) were investigated,and the sample of polymer was characterized by gel permeation chromatography technique.The results mean that the reaction is initiated by free radicals and the radicals come from the friction between the macromolecule of PMMA and monomer of MMA.Several factors(i.e.the frequency of the ultrasonic,the time of irradiation) can strongly affect the polymerization rate.The product gained by the ultrasonic irradiation has a more regular molecular weight distribution and which contains scarcely any initiator,so the product has potential applications in some areas.
