INVESTIGATION OF INFLUENCE OF HYDROGEN ATTACK ON FATIGUE PROPERTIES OF PRESSURE VESSEL STEELS

Influence of hydrogen attack on mechanical and fatigue properties of 1020, 15CrMo and 2.25Cr-1Mo steels has been studied, which were exposed to gaseous hydrogen at pressure of 18MPa and 300-480℃ for up to 480h. The results of fatigue test showed that hydrogen attack (HA) resulted in an obvious change in fatigue properties of 1020 and 15CrMo steels, however, 2.25Cr-1Mo steel showed a lower susceptibility to hydrogen attack due to the addition of Cr and Mo. Fatigue crack behaviour for 1020 steel is attributed to hydrogen attack damage and the crack closure induced by the rough cracking surface, which lead to a valley on △Kth~HA% plot. The change in the fatigue behaviour of 15CrMo steel is possibly caused by severe surface decarburization.

MAGNETIC ACOUSTIC EMISSION CHARACTERISTICS OF HYDROGEN ATTACKED LOW CARBON STEEL

Hydrogen attack occurred in low carbon steel and steel 25CrMo which had been exposed in hydrogen under 18MPa at 450 and 500℃ for 240,480 and 720 h.The methane bubbles and microcracks grow along grain boundaries.The degree of hydrogen attack increases with increasing exposure time and temperature.Magnetic acoustic emission(MAE) was used to detect the degree of hydrogen attack.The results show that the characteristics of MAE for samples of low carbon steel and steel 15CrMo with hydrogen attack have changed obviously comparing to the samples without hydrogen attack,and the MAE signals was sensitive to the degree of hydrogen attack at the last stage of hydrogen attack.The magnetic detection way,as a new method of nonrestrictive testing of hydrogen attack,can be used to detect the hydrogen attack in practice.

STRUCTURE OF Al-Mn-Zn-Mg ALLOY POWDER

The structure of Al-Mn-Zn-Mg alloy powder annealed at 800℃ has been studied by transmisston electron microscopy(TEM).An approximant phase(named as C-phase) to the decagonal phase was found and its crystal structure was determined It belongs to c-center orthorhombic lattice with a=2.35 nm,b=3.27 nm and c=1.22 nm.We stillfound a hexagonal phase with a=0.7) nm and c=0.79 nm,(named as phase) in the annealed alloy powder.The annealed alloy powder is composed of the C-phase,the phase,the decagonal phase and Al solid solution.

PREPARATION AND STRVCTURAL EVOLUTION OF TiO_2 THIN FILMS BY LOW PRESSURE MOCVD

Titanium dioxide thin films were prepared by low pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition (LP-MOCVD) from titanium IV isopropoxide. Nitrogen was used as a carrier gas for the titanium precursor,and oxygen as a reactant gas. The deposition rates of the films have been studied as functions of process parameters such as sabstrate temperature and oxygen flow rote. Structural evolution of the films has been studied as functions of substrate temperature (110 to 700℃) and annealing temperature. The films have been characterized by X-ray dissection and by Raman scattering. Films deposited onto Si(100) substrates were amorphous at 110-250℃, anatase at 350- 550℃ and rutile above 650℃. The films deposited at substrate temperatures less than 550℃ and annealed at 600℃ for two hours were annealed, annealed at 700℃ for two hours were mixtures of anatase and rutile, and annealed at 850℃ for two hours were rutile.

TEMPERING RESPONSE OF A DEFORMED LOW CARBON DUAL PHASE STRUCTURE

The low carbon dual phase structure was cold de formed first,then was tempered at 200 to 600℃.The variation in strength and ductility during tempering of the steel was investigated.It was found that a fter the de formed dual phase structure was tempered at 200 to 600℃, with the increase in the tempering temperature the tensile strength decreases rapidly;the lotal elongation remains constant at 200 to 500℃ but began to rise dramatically at a critical temperature between 500 and 600℃.However,when the non-deformed dual phase structure was tempered at the same temperature range,the tensile strength decreases and the total elongation increases continuously with the increase of temperature.It was demonstrated from TEM analysis that precipitating carbides density along the boundaries ofmartensite lath and the recrystallized grains are responsible for the tempering response ofthe de formed dual phase structure.

The composition of a bearing steel was designed for limited hardenability by use of Grossmann's method. A medium frequency induction Process was applied to heat bearings to ensure penetrant heating and suitable solving of carbon and other elements in the matrix. The hardened depth measured from the end quenching test samples and actual bearings matches well with the designed one.

MORPHOLOGY OF MELT SPINNING SUPERSATURATED B2 NiAl

The morphology and structure of melt spinning Ni-33.6at% Al doped with B and RE were investigated.The results show that the alloy consists of L10 martensitic grains and L12 Ni3Al at the grain boundaries when it contains no B and RE.The addition of 0.11-0.31wt% B can suppress the martensitic transformation and Ni3Al separation at the boundaries,and a supersaturated B2 single phase NiAl is obtained.The addition of 0.05wt% RE can eliminate Ni3Al precipitated at the boundaries and get complete martensite,but 0.2-0.8wt% RE addition can suppress the martensitic transformation, and supersaturated B2 single phase NiAl is obtained.The formation mechanism of supersaturated B2 single phase NiAl has been analyzed.

STEADY-STATE CREEP OF UNIDIRECTIONAL C/C COMPOSITE WITH PYROLYTIC CARBON MATRIX

The steady-state creep behavior of unidirectional C/C(1-D-C/C) composite with pyrolytic carbon matrix was investigated at high temperatures up to 2160℃ and under tensile stress from 133.83 to 213.46MPa. Based on the creep experiment of single specimen method, the apparent activation energy and the stress exponent for steadystate creep were determined by the use of a self-made apparatus and an auto-testing system. Value of apparent activation volume is provided and the creep mechanism has also been discussed.

It was proposed how the concentration distribution was calculated in the treble lager wall of hgdrogenation reactor according to the principle of hydrogen diffusion at the steady state in this paper. Based on the steady hydrogen permeation current density i∞ measund with the hydrogen probe at a given temperature, the hydmpen concentrationson the key interfaces and hydrogen distribution at any given mdial profile in the single, double or treble layer wall of hydrogenation reactor could be found by applying the presented equations throoph suitable parmeters ioput. The theoretical bases were provided for developing the nondestructive probing technique of the concentration of atomic hydmpen in the wallS of hydrogenation reactors.

INTERPHASE STRESS CORROSION CRACKING OF ALLOY Ti-24Al-11Nb IN METHANOL SOLUTION

For alloy Ti-24Al-11Nb,stress corrosion cracking(SCC) in methanol solution and hydrogen induced cracking(HIC) during dynamic charging at room temperature have been studied.Experiment has shown that the normalised threshold stress intensities of SCC failure for various microstructures are KISCC/KC =0.53 0.69 and the threshold value for SCC arresting KISCC/ KIC=0.61-0.79.The threshold values of HIC during dynamic charging are close to that of SCC,but da/dt or fracture time of HIC is one to three orders of magnitude smaller or longer than that of SCC,respectively.The.fracture surface for HIC is also different from that for SCC.For the Ti-24Al-Nb alloy-methanol systein,a kind of inierphase SCC has been found For the microstructures resulting from furnace cooling,SCC initiated and propagated preferentially along theα2/βinterphase boundaries,displaying the microstructure on the fracture surface of SCC.However,there is no interphase SCC for the microstructure resulting from air cooling.
