TEM STUDY OF TWINNING ORIENTATION RELATIOSHIP BETWEEN A AND B MARTENSITE VARIANTS IN A CuZnAl SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY

A secondary twinning orientation relationship between A and B martensite variants in a CuZnAl shape memory alloy was confirmed under TEM observation.The twin plane, (50),is a linear combination of (8)and(1 0 10)planes,which are twin planes of A:C and A:D type pair respectively.

The microstructural evolution and precipitation hardening of an Elinvar alloy doped with Ti and Al during isothermal aging at 700℃ have been investigated by atom probe field ion microscopy and microhardness measurements.The γ′ precipiates are spherical and coherent with the matrix.The chemical composition of the precipitates are(Ni_(0.53)Fe_(0.47)_3 (Ti_(0.(?))Al_(0.4)). During aging,a Lifshitz-Wagner type dissolution and coarsening reaction of the precipitates has been observed,The hardness of the material varies with the aging time and reaches maxi- mum when the average diameter of the precipitates was about 11 nm.

STRUCTURE AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES OF Fe/Pd COMPOSITIONALLY MODULATED FILMS

Metal Fe/Pd compositionally modulated films(CMFs) were prepared by vapour depo- sition from two sources onto glass substrate under vacuum.The modulation and crystal structures of the films were examined by X-ray diffraction.The magnetic properties were determined by vibrating sample magnetometer.The Pd layers in the Fe/Pd CMFs are of fcc structure,and the Fe layer structure transits from bcc into amorphous,state with decreasing thickness of Fe layer.The dependence of specific saturation magnetization on thickness of Fe layers has also been discussed.

The corrosion behaviour and mechanism of superpure austenitic stainless steel 00Cr25Ni22Mo2N in urea processing environment was studied using metallography,SEM, TEM,SIMS and AES techniques.The results show that the gas extraction tube made of non-sensitized 00Cr25Ni22Mo2N steel suffered intergranular corrosion.Corrosive media penetrated not only into the tube wall through grain boundaries but also expanded from the boundary towards the interior of the grain.Neither depletion of Cr nor precipitates were found at the grain boundaries.However,P(and Si)was segregated at the grain boundaries to a great extent.Semiquantitative calculation indicates that the P content at the grain boundaries is about 25 wt-%,three orders of magnitude higher than the content within the grain.Sugges- tion is made that the potential difference between the grain and its boundary due to the segre- gation results in the observed intergranular corrosion.

STUDY OF AMORPHOUS Fe-Zr-B-(Cu) ALLOYS BY MECHANICAL ALLOYING

The technique of mechanical alloying(MA) for preparing amorphous Fe-Zr-B-(Cu) alloys has been studied The structure of samples was analysed by X-ray diffractometry, electron microscopy and Mssbauer spectroscopy.The results show that Fe78Zr10B12 sample of a nearly complete amorphous phase may be prepared but in Fe91Zr7B2 sample metastable b c c phase was obtained Using the same procedure a mixture of amorphous phase and α-Fe(Zr, B) was generated in Fe85Zr7B8. Furthermore,the results of Mssbauer reveal that there are two kinds of short-range ordered phases in the sample. While adding Iat% Cu in Fe78Zr10B12 or Fe85Zr7B8 sample, it is found that the hyperfine field of amorphous phases decreases significantly.

Eutectic Bi/MnBi magnetic alloy was prepared by directional solidification.When the growth rate,R>2 cm/h,the MnBi fibre spacing,λ,distributed homogeneously in Bi matrix,follows λ~2R=constant.The thermal gradient.G_L,does not influence λ.The magnetic property,B_r of Bi/MnBi alloy decreases with the increase of R and increases with the increase of G_L.

MAGNETIC ANISOTRIPY IN SPUTTERED NdFeB FILMS

The amorphous and crystalline NdFeB films were prepared by RF sputtering at different substrate temperatures.The crystalline specimens,prepared at 600℃ have strong perpendicu- lar anisotropy and high coercivity.And the cystallized alloy from amorphous state also has strong perpendicular anisotripy.

The regularity and mechanism of the microplastic deformation of steel 1Cr18Ni9Ti both solu- tion-treated and prestrained were investigated.In the different stages of microplastic deformation,stage 1 corresponds to the dislocation moving and exhausting in the regions near grain boundaries.Stage 2,being the early stage of macroplastic deformation,corresponds to the extensive operation and generation of dislocations in the interior of grains and also dislo- cation emission from the grain boundaries.The regularities of the effect of prestrain on macro-and micro-yield strength are different.

The magnetic properties and the crystallization and its influence on the magnetic and struc- tural properties for rapidly quenched amorphous Nd_6Fe_(81)B-(13) alloy have been studied.The low temperature magnetic properties,the Curie temperature and the crystallization behavior are discussed.A small addition(6at.-%)of Nd in amorphous Fe-B alloys increases largely the crystallization temperature T_x but causes a decrease of the Curie temperature Tc·A new phase was observed in the sample annealed at 873 K.
