Mathematical Model of Dynamic Operation and Optimum Control of Billet Reheating Furnace

This paper provides a mathematical model for the billet reheating process in furnace.A new optimum method is brought up that the objective function is the integral value of enthalpy increasing process of a billet.Different delays are simulated and calculated,some proper delay strategies are ob- tained.The on-line computer control model is de- veloped.The real production conditions simulated, the temperature deviation of drop out billet from the target temperature is kept within±15℃.

An experimental study has been made of oxidation kinetics of Ti in molten Cu-Ti alloy under watery atmosphere at 1500℃.The results may be expressed as follows: [Ti]_(Cu)=0.92-0.69t O≤t≤1.0(h) [Ti]_(Cu)=0.02t~2-0.14t+0.35 1.0≤t≤6.0(h) where t is time in hour.The apparent rate and order of reaction are: (-d[Ti]_(Cu))/dt=0.69,pseudo-zeroth order,k=0.69 (-d[Ti]_(Cu))/dt=0.14-0.04t,pseudo-0.85 order,k=0.39 The apparent mass tranfer coefficient is k'=0.16 cm/h,and the relation of W~2 vs time is: W~2=1.04·10~(-4)t

Sodium Activity in Molten Aluminum Measured with a Solid Electrolyte

The sodium activities in aluminium in equilibrium with cryolite-alumina melt and during electrolysis were determined by EMF with Naβ-Al_2O_3 solid electrolyte.With this sodium activities,we calculate the activities of NaF and AIF_3 in the cryolite-alumina melt.The potential difference of discharge be- tween sodium ions and aluminum ions at cathode of Hall-Heroult cell was also obtained from the sodium activity in aluminum.

In the present paper,the two-dimensional comprehensive model,which integrates the temperature model developed by the authors using finite difference methods and microstructural evolution model,has been developed.By using different microstructural evolution equations developed by Sellars,Senuma et al.and Easka et al.,the comparison studies have been made,which present that (1) the calculated γ-grain sizes show good agreements with the measured;(2) these equations show consistencies at the end of finishing stands.

This paper discusses the general characteristics of anode effect in aluminium electrolysis and pre- vious theories about the mechanism of anode effect. On the basis of laboratory experiments,the author suggests a new contribution to the primary and di- rect reason for anode effect.

The influence of material gate position in bur- den-flow rate has been studied by simulating exper- iments.A mathematical model describing the char- acteristics of burden-flow at the material gate of bell-less top blast furnace(BF)is established in this paper,in an attempt to solve the problems in bur- den distribution,especially to eliminate the over- lapping or disconnection of the burden at the be- ginning and at the end of a ring,which plays a quite important role in the blast furnace operation.

Disaccommodation in Fe-Ni Based Amorphous Alloys

The disaccommodation of magnetic per- meability,specific magnetization and linear magnetostriction of amorphous(Fe_xNi_(1-x))_(76)- Si_8B_(16)alloys were measured.It was found that the disaccommodation obtained at lower temperature is a monotonically decreasing function of Fe content, however,a peak is observed at higher temperature. The experimental results are discussed on the basis of magnetostrictive interaction and atomic directional ordering.

A Microcomputer Fitted Method for Determination of the True ODF of Hexagonal Materials according to the Maximum-Entropy Estimate

A method which is especially suitable for microcomputer calculation of the true orientation distribution function (ODF) according to the maximum-entropy estimate is proposed for hexagonal system polycrystalline materials with physical symmetry.The resultant computational software system has been also designed and first carried out in a microcomputer PANAFACOM-U1200 being on line with the X-ray diffractometer D/max-3A.The simu- lated calculation shows that the method is concisely pragmatic and easily popularized,while the results obtained are trust worthy.

Mathematical Model for the Rotary Kiln Process and Its Application

A mathematical model to predict the operation behaviours of the rotary kiln process and to describe the axial distribution of process variables along the length of the reactor has been developed in present work.The model is established based on the principle of mass and heat balance in the system under a steady state with the consideration of kinetic characteristics of the processes.Four examples of the simulation processes in a pi- lot kiln and 3 commercial kilns by using the present mathematical model are given in this paper.The good agreement between the predicted results and the measured data has been obtained.
