The steel contains a small amount of hydrogen which will escape during the heat treatment. The hydrogen pressure in 16MnRE steel was investigated with a hydrogen sensor, which used SrCe0:95Yb0:05O3-α proton conductor as a solid electrolyte, YHx+YH2-z as a solid state reference electrode and Ni wire as electrode constructing a hydrogen concentration cell, shown as Ni|YHx+YH2-z |SrCe0:95Yb0:05O3-α |[H]steel |Ni. The response time of sensor is less than 10 s. The relational expression of hydrogen partial pressure with temperatures was determined using two shape proton conductors. The results showed the regularity in experimental temperature range, and the hydrogen partial pressure increased as its temperature was raised.

The ac conductivities of Y2O3 or CaO-stabilized cubic zirconias were obtained from complex impedance measurements in the temperature range from 373 to 473 K. By analyzing the temperature-dependence of the resultant dc conductivities, it was shown that the activation energies for conduction are lower than those reported previously for the same materials at high temperatures. Comparing the activation energy data with the theoretically estimated values revealed that there may exist a certain, although very small, amount of free oxygen vacancies in the test samples at low temperatures and the conduction in the test samples is a result of the migration of these free oxygen vacancies.

A type of CO2 sensor based on oxygen concentration cell was designed as following: Cell I: Pt | Au, O2, CO2| Na2CO3(Au)|NKBA(Au)|YSZ|O2, CO2|Pt or Cell II: Pt | Au, O2, CO2|K2$CO3(Au)|NKBA(Au)|YSZ|O2, CO2|Pt. (Na, K-β/β''-Al2O3 is named by NKBA). The sensor signal is consistent with the Nernstian slope within the region of phase equilibrium for Na, K-β/β''-Al2O3 material. The relationship between CO2 sensor voltage response and phase equilibrium of solid electrolyte Na, K-β/β''-Al2O3 is discussed in this paper.

The effect of an external magnetic field on the preparation of silver nanowires was studied. The silver nanowires were synthesized using solid electrolyte RbAg4I5 thin films by applying both a direct current (DC) electric field and a magnetic field. The RbAg4I5 thin films, which were prepared by deposition at room temperature and atmospheric pressure on a NaCl substrate, were used for the transfer of Ag+ ions between two Ag electrodes during the preparation process. When only the DC electric field is applied, the silver ions migrate toward the cathode. On the edge of the silver film at the cathode the Ag+ ions congregate to form aligned nanowires. If the magnetic field is also applied perpendicular to the DC electric field, the morphology of the nanowires can be controlled by rotating the sample in the magnetic field. Experimental results show that the growth of the silver nanowires is determined by the Ag+ ionic flux.
